    James is an award-winning journalist and the author of seven novels
(
October Mourning, Between Rail and River, Canawlers, The Rain Man,
Logan's Fire, My Little Angel and Beast). His interest in the history of Western
Maryland began to develop when he moved to the area and learned about his
new home. Being a writer, he began to take the stories of the events, people
and places he learned about and shape them into the novels that continue to
gain a following.
    He is the editor of The Thurmont Dispatch and The Emmitsburg Dispatch
in Frederick County, Maryland, where he covers county government, history,
health and other topics of interest. His articles have won awards from the
Associated Press, Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association, Maryland State
Teachers Association, Society of Professional Journalists and CNHI.
    He lives in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, with his wife Amy and sons, Ben and
Sam. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and
Franklin High School in Reisterstown, Maryland.
James is currently working on his next novel.
